My daughter has done very well in the 6th grade here. She hated reading in 5th grade and now I see her reading all the time without having to prompt her. Her teachers are caring and she has shown more interest in her classwork since starting at New Horizons.

Hannah Senesh Day School has made a huge difference for our son who has grown tremendously over the three years he has attended. The school stresses self confidence in kids and provides an unparallelled level of education in core subjects: math, history and writing. Subject presentation is very interesting and resembles the style of teaching at top colleges in the country. We feel very fortunate to be a part of the school.

Our daughter will be entering her third year at PS 15. We have had a wonderful experience there. She tested into G&T at the end of PreK but we decided to stay at 15 and have no regrets. It is such a welcoming environment with administrators, teachers and the principal being available for all comments and ideas. Our daughter has excelled, not just academically, but also emotionally. She started shy and has really come out of her shell and clearly feels so accomplished and cared for. The programs available at the school are amazing-- dance, art, music. She is reading well above her "level" and that has been supported. And how wonderful that this is our community school! We feel we lucked out and look forward to being part of the school growing and further diversifying.

Under new principal Mr Winston Hamann, this school has completely turned over a new leaf! The school day is more structured and disciplined with the students, creating a safer & saner atmosphere than previous administration. A huge plus is having the Good Shepherd Youth Services housed right in the building - providing after-school programs and day care and/or camps over school breaks.

It seems that the parent who said that the school needs to be revamped should look into some spelling classes. I completely disagree with his/her opinion. This school has been a blessing. My son has improved greatly in all of his subjects. All teachers are attentive and make teaching fun and enjoyable enough that he is able to focus and learn without feeling it as a burden. And the incentive program of the "dollars" is great. My son saves his in order to get a larger item at the school store. I give PS32K 5 stars.

The Dual Language Program is phenomenal. I can't believe how well my daughter writes in French, all while maintaining a high reading level in English. My Daughter LOVES going to school. She feels a strong bond with the school staff. The Principal has created a strong community within the school. Great after school choices! Parents are involved and feel welcomed. My youngest daughter also loves her patients and caring Pre-K teachers.

A new school with welcoming staff and devoted teachers who work hard to empower the kids. Class size is small so students get all the extra attention they need. It has great after-school and school break programs for working parents. A positive atmosphere for education and community! |

SUMMIT ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL
27 HUNTINGTON ST [Details] |
PUBLIC | 5 - 8 | ABOVE AVERAGE | 175 |

Summit Academy Charter seems to place its primary focus on procedure coupled with time management within their 48 minute class periods, which tends to dilute the academic rigor and critical thinking potential of their students and teachers. |
