This is a great small school. The dicipline and education the children recieve is great. I have never been to a school where grades K-8 interact and have a relationship on a 1st name basis. The only flaw? They do not have a High School (yet).

i COULD SAY THAT THE PRINCIPAL AND MOST OF THE STAFF GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND THEIR DUTTIES. UNFORTUNATELY THE NEW GENERATION OF PARENTS IS HORRIBLE. i LOVE THE SCHOOL i HAVE TWO KIDS AND TWO NIECES. THEIR READING LEVEL IS WELL ABOVE THE CITY STANDARD AND THAT IS BECAUSE THE DEDICATED TEACHER THE HAVE HAD OVER THE YEARS IN THIS SCHOOL. THE PARENT CORDINATOR IS A WONDERFUL AND HELPFUL PERSON. THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTAN PRINCIPAL ARE ALWAYS AVAILABLE. SO. PARENTS DON'T BLAME THE SCHOOL FOR THE JOB YOU AREN'T CAPALE OF DOING.

My son attended for 3 years and I didn't have any problems. He did really well and didn't get left back at all. My son worked really hard. He did everything he was supposed to do. His teachers really cared and worked equally hard. However, if you have a child who was like mine, you may not want him in 292. Why? Because, like me, you want to see him rewarded. It is a privilege and honor to be rewarded with a graduation. The teachers=excellent. The principal=fail

I was a former student and currently have 2 children attending this school. It is a good school. The only problem I have, is that the 9th graders get out at 4:45. I wish they would begin earlier and dimissed earlier. I feel that it is dangerous for these kids to be traveling so late especially when it gets dark early.

The school is wonderful if you as a parent collaborate with the principle, teachers and the school administrators. Parents must get involved with their children s school activities in order for their children to excel. The child must be willing to do the work for him or her to excel.

The reason I love PATHS, is this is my daughter's 1st year and I find this school to be extremely organized and focused on one particular goal, to get our children to graduate from H.S. I feel PATHS (located @ Thomas Jefferson H.S. Campus) has a bad repuation due the location (East New York) but I as a parent and many others feel this reputation will be put to rest and everyone will be wanting to come to this school. I feel like I belong there along with my daughter. The staff, teachers and especially the principal make you feel welcomed at all times and are very encouraging in how we as parents can help our kids to succeed. I look forward to the next three years in this school as I am determined as my daughter is to see that day come when she walks down that aisle with her head held high and proud to know she's a graduate of PATHS. Thank you to all for your continued support and to all the parents who know that together we can make a difference. |

I have a child in third grade. Her academic performance is on par with my great expectations. All or most of the children at AFBES fare well in all areas. The true concern is moving forward to Middle School, any of them. We can not ignore the countless number of families fleeing this charter because of the new, erroneously pervasive insistence of character and moral education emphasis mandated once in Middle school - acting as if they are entering a reform school. I believe the teachers to be stellar in elementary school level. I have few if any complaints that weren't addressed or corrected. The staff from the office are pleasant, the principal greets every child by name and the school culture is "family". The PLC could be a powerhouse if they organized their efforts like getting employee matched donations, ice cream socials and dual language insistence to meet the needs of the community and future based earnings criteria. My biggest issue would be the unpreparedness or unwillingness of the two schools to meet and connect to make for a smooth transition. Its as if they - the corporation) want our children to support their product (charter school) so it can be sold to NYC
