REPERTORY HIGH SCHOOL FOR THEATRE ARTS
123 W 43RD ST
[Details]
PUBLIC 9 - 12 HIGH 206 4
(Based on 21 reviews)

My son is a senior at Repertory; he will graduate next June with an Advance Regents Diploma. In September, he will be taking courses at Hunter College thru College Now. I liked Repertory because of its size; the school averages about 240 students. The school exposed my son to technical theatre and now he is looking at colleges where he can major in theatre and technical theatre. The teachers and the staff are very supportive of students, and parents have access to teachers. Repertory has a family atmosphere; the teachers and staff know the students. Academically Repertory ranks among the average in public high schools. The down side, Repertory struggles financially. The school has talented students but without famous alumni or big names sponsors, the PTA is the only source of fundraising. Never the less, the school gets a ton of credit for what it accomplishes annually on a limited budget.

HOLY CROSS SCHOOL

[Details]
CATHOLIC K - 8 HIGH 210 4
(Based on 27 reviews)

My daughter attended Holy Cross for 3 years. As a public school teacher for over 15 years I can tell you that the leadership shown by the administration is second to none. Academically, the school is very solid. The staff makes sure that the children succeed and always keep the parents informed on the academic and personal growth of the children. My daughter is a perfect example she was an average student at most while attending public school. The public school bureaucracy had even hinted that she had special education needs . Well, let me tell you that my daughter made a 360 degree turn as soon as she started attending Holy cross. She did extremely well in all city and state tests and was accepted to one of the elite private high schools in the city! Her passion for school and her overall attitude was greatly enhanced. Great School!
